Description

Introducing the Taylor Jensen Pro Mid, a shape designed by Dan Mann & Taylor Jensen. The TJ Pro Mid is a fast-paddling, easy-riding performance midlength designed for all skill levels, based on his TJ Pro performance longboard model. Whether your looking to step down off a longboard or step up into more volume for smaller days, the TJ Pro Mid is a versatile performance shape that has something for everyone.

The TJ Pro Mid has a flat rocker profile with slight kick at the tip, allowing faster paddling power and steeper drops. The relatively flat bottom up front blends into a double concave under your feet and the rails transition from neutral round forward to a tucked hard edge through the tail. That combination leaves you with a feeling of improved stability, enhanced control and effortless performance. Drive through turns and float over flat sections without a second thought - you haven't felt on-rail drive until you've ridden a board 7 foot or over.

Built with 5 fin boxes, this board has the versatility to be ridden as a Two Plus One, Quad or Single fin, giving you the plenty of options to set up your board for the conditions on the day.

Pair with our all-new Firewire Velox Fin Set as a Quad for best performance.

Lightweight and very maneuverable

"I was surprised at how easy it was to get up on the board and swing it around. For an 8 ft board, it sure doesn't feel as heavy as you would expect. Paddles well too for me at 6 ft 210 lbs and still able to duck dive it. Excited to ride it again, hands down my favorite board!"

Versatile performance

"The TJ Pro mid is a quiver killer. It has quickly become my daily driver. Basically works in everything from small beach breaks to head high point and reef breaks. The versatility is insane. I ride it as a twin with small trailer for smaller weaker waves and quad fins for the bigger more powerful days. It's a must have board for your quiver. It may even replace your quiver!!"

Super fun!

"Put in two big twin fins and have been having a blast. After a shoulder injury I have been riding an 8 6. Needed to step down. Catches waves like a dream and generates speed like a short board!!"

Comfortable, responsive, but fragile

"I have surfed this board over the past few months both on fast beach breaks in France and on point breaks in Morocco. Whether in solid conditions (around 3 meters in Morocco) or in smaller waves, it is easy to maneuver for its size (7’2 for me). It is surprisingly lively, even though it remains a longboard-oriented shape, while still retaining excellent paddling comfort. However, I am having difficulties repairing the rails after the board was damaged at the airport. After each repair, cracks reappear further along the rail. I have contacted Firewire US and hope to receive a response."

The glide and turning is incredible

"I've been resisting riding a longer board for many years. My main boards have been a 5'8" Cymatic and a 6'0" S Boss. I live in Costa Rica and decided to get a longer board to round things out. OMG, this board (a 7'2") absolutely rips! It catches waves so easily, yet still turns really well. The speed and control is incredible. I can't believe how much I love this board and am glad I got over my mental block."

My favorite board, hands-down

"I’m a central Florida surfer and we don’t get picture perfect waves like California or Hawaii. I’ve been staring at a TJ Mid 8’0 at my local surf shop for months. I read the reviews and and could not imagine that this board would live up to the hype. I broke down and bought aboard. I actually didn’t want to. like this board. After surfing it in every imaginable condition along the central Florida coast I must admit this board has become my favorite board in a very large quiver. It’s so good. I feel like I’m cheating. It catches everything from big outside sets to inside brakes. if I want to draw out big lines, then I use a 6 inch fin with Mark Richards big fence. If I want it to be more maneuverable and smaller surf then I use a 6 inch fin with the large set of AMR2s or any similar size Futures fin. I’m a bigger guy so the 80 works perfectly for me however I love this board so much that I picked up the 7’4 and it is even more maneuverable. I can’t say enough good things about this board and I actually didn’t want to write this review because this board has become my secret weapon and I keep surfing it because it just handles so well in every condition. I’ve actually stopped surfing my favorite boards and I continue to go back to this board. It is that good. Just for context. I would consider myself an intermediate surfer. I’m 63 and over 200 pounds. And I’ve been surfing consistently for the last 10 years. It’s my only hobby and I live to surf. Lastly, I’m probably addicted to mid length surfboards and this one is by far, the best one I’ve ever served in the last 10 years."

TJ Mid, a solid performer

"Love this board. Downshifted from my TJ Pro 9’, which is sick. The Mid is ripable and highly flexible given the fin setup options. Highly recommend this stick."
